What’s Good: Darius Rucker raised $2 million for St. Jude’s
Some country stars come with a big heart and that is no exception for Darius Rucker. Not only is he a brilliant songwriter, talented singer and down to earth human being, but he also has a big heart and finds ways to give back. That is what he does every year for St. Jude's Children Hospital with "Darius & Friends."
"Darius & Friends" is a benefit concert that Darius Rucker started 10 years ago. When he first visited St. Jude's Children Research Hospital he was impressed at how they cared for the patient and their family. Rucker wanted to help alleviate the financial burden during those hard times so he started this concert.
As mentioned by the name, Darius had some friends along this year including Jimmie Allen, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, Travis Denning, Brett Young, Little Big Town and Charles Kelley. The concert was held at the Ryman Auditorium and this year the concert raised a record breaking $425,000, added to past years puts the total raised more than $2 million.
Rucker has received the ACM Gary Haber Lifting Lives Award in 2018 and the Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award at the 2019 Music Biz Awards for his philanthropic work.
