For some, "Christmas in July" means watching Hallmark Christmas movies and dreaming of the Christmas season. Then, others may take this idea a little farther with making some "Christmas" treats and getting into the spirit of giving a little early- just like Zachary Kohlhaas did.

Zachary Kohlhaas is an 8-year-old boy from Cedar Falls, Iowa and he did something pretty incredible recently. Zachary was sitting in class one day when his teachers and the class were talking about the idea of helping others and this helped to bloom an idea for him

According to KWWL, Zachary decided to have a Christmas in July Bake Sale! Zachary and his younger brother and sister went to work in their kitchen making all types of holiday sweets including cookies, pretzels and spoon treats! Then, on July 30th, Zachary put his Christmas hat and started selling the treats in his neighborhood. Zachary raised $150!

So, what did he decide to do with the money? Well, he wanted to to help out the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. So, he called the Food Bank and asked how he could help and they told him they needed canned food and toiletries. So, Zachary went to the store and using the money he made bought all the items he could and then dropped it off at the Food Bank.
