Veteran Walks From Washington State To Florida For Suicide Awareness
No one knows what our soldiers go through when they are sent into war zones except for those soldiers with them. Unfortunately, these experiences are hard to deal with and some veterans cannot deal with the aftermath... which is why one veteran is bringing awareness to this issue.
Jimmy Novak is a 43-year-old army veteran and for the past 5 months he has been walking from his home in Washington State all the way to Florida! Why is he doing this? Well, although it is great exercise that's not the only reason, Novak is making the walk to bring awareness to the shocking number of veterans who battle depression and commit suicide.
Novak has personally dealt with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts in his own life and decided he wanted to do something to encourage other veterans dealing with these issues as well. Novak has been walking 22 miles a day because on average 22 vets die everyday due to suicide in America. During this journey, he has raised thousands of dollars online for the cause.
Today,he is finishing up his 3,000 mile trip when he arrives at Disney World in Orlando. Not only that, it also happens to be Novak's 43rd birthday! What a way to celebrate!
