A Black Hawk county deputy is recovering from injuries he sustained in a weekend traffic accident.

It happened at about 6:30pm Sunday, on southbound highway 218 near Janesville.

A marked county s.u.v., driven by 43 year old Chad Chase of Waterloo, pulled out from a stop sign, into the path of a car driven by 44 year old Melissa Kramer of Waverly. After the collission, Kramer's car ended up in a ditch.

She was taken to Covenant Hospital in Waterloo for treatment of unspecified injuries. Deputy Chase sustained minor injuries and did not have to be hospitalized.

According to sources, the deputy was enroute to a call, but did not have his lights or siren activated.

The accident is being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.
