As a 27-year-old single woman in Iowa, I can tell you that I have not had much luck here in the romance department. I have been single for the entire four years I've lived here, but I don't know if I can really blame that on the state. I blame it on my irrationally high expectations and the fact that I don't try very hard to meet people. I lasted a whole 45 minutes on Tinder before I deleted it...

According to a new survey from WalletHub, Iowa is RIGHT in the middle of the list of the 'Best & Worst States for Singles' in 2019. We came in at number 26, which is definitely not as bad as I expected us to do! WalletHub used "28 key indicators of dating-friendliness" to determine their rankings, which were all place in one of the 3 overall categories:

  • Dating Opportunities
  • Dating Economics
  • Romance & Fun

Iowa came in 5th for 'Dating Economics,' 21st for 'Romance & Fun,' and 40th for 'Dating Opportunities.' Additionally, we came in 46th place for the 'Lowest Share of Single Adults,' which confirms my theory that pretty much everybody is already taken!

The best states for singles include Florida, California, and Texas, while the worst states for single are West Virginia, Arkansas, and North Dakota.
