If you've ever dated a narcissist, you know it's the worst and there are some obvious things they do. They project all of their issues onto you. Suddenly, you can't do anything right and you're made to believe everything is your fault. Sound familiar?

But you might be able to catch the little jerks before they know you're on to them. Here are some body language signs to look for in your partner that are common in narcissists. Remember, some of these are just habits, not necessarily something that means your partner is a Disney villain.

5. They Look Over Your Shoulder When You Talk

Business Insider found a 1990 study on narcissism that concluded that people who are narcissists often look over the other person's shoulder, like they want more interactions. This would make something basic, like eye contact, difficult.

4. They Keep A Physical Distance From You

Expert Rebecca Zung says narcissists put more space between you and themselves than they need to. They can be charismatic and big on grandiose gestures but they are insecure and want space.

3. Their Smile Isn't In Their Eyes

You see the mouth smile, but do the eyes look kinda dead? That could be a sign, according to body language expert Dr. Louise Mahler. Eyes reflect a lot of how we feel and that could be your answer.

2. They Speak Loudly

Another body language expert, Dr. Patti Wood, revealed that narcissists often speak loudly. They want to be the center of attention, after all. Rebecca Zung also says that they might ask a question and not wait for the answer.

1. They Keep Touching Their Face

This doesn't mean fixing their makeup or scratching an itch. Touching one's face can be a sign of a liar. An FBI body language expert says that it's like a pacifier action. The person doing it feels uncomfortable about something, even if they don't say or express it, so touching their face makes them feel comfortable again. If it's a repeated action, they're really uncomfortable about something.
