Iowa’s Favorite Bridgerton Character Is a Bit of a Surprise

It appears that one of the most popular Netflix shows of the past decade has returned for a third season.

The streaming giant dropped the final four episodes of the season on June 13th, 2024.

This highly anticipated season focuses in on fan favorite character, Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

Each season follows one (or more) of the members of the well-off Bridgerton family in their attempt to find love in Regency Era England.

Fans are quick to share which of the romantic leads is their favorite on social media.

I was curious which one was the favorite in the Hawkeye State.

Looking at the data from Google Trends, it appears there is one clear favorite.

Diving Into the Data

Each season follows a different Bridgerton family love story, so it's safe to say that whoever is the romantic lead will be the most "popular."

If you look back at the past few months of data, according to Google Trends, it is Mr. Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton who appears to jump up a bit more frequently in popularity here in the Hawkeye State.

Since this season follows his courtship with Penelope Featherington, that is a given.

Over the last ninety days, he bounces from being a top contender and a solid second place here in Iowa.

His popularity was at 100% when the first batch of episodes for season three dropped in May.

When the second season of the show dropped on Netflix in March of 2022, the romantic lead of that season, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathon Bailey) was at the peak of his popularity. His popularity percentage according to Google Trends was at 85% during this time.

However, it seems like Mr. Benedict Bridgerton, who is played by Luke Thompson and who is also rumored to be the lead of the fourth season is rapidly skyrocketing in popularity.

During the week leading up to the second half of season three, these were the Google search percentages out of 100:

Anthony Bridgerton: 25%

Benedict Bridgerton: 46%

Colin Bridgerton: 27%

Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings: 4%
