Body Found in Cedar River in Cedar Rapids Has Been Identified
The Cedar Rapids Police Department has released the name of a person whose body was found floating in the Cedar River on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Both the Cedar Rapids Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to the Cedar River at about 2:30 p.m. on August 20 after reports of a body in the river.
The body was along the west bank of the Cedar River, between the Ellis boat ramp and I Ave. boat ramp. Cedar Rapids firefighters were able to retrieve the body at approximately 3:30 p.m. the same day.
This morning, the Cedar Rapids Police Department says the person recovered from the Cedar River is 53-year-old Kevin Finch. His body was taken to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny. An autopsy shows he died of natural causes and that foul play is not suspected.
According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the last known address for Finch was in Ankeny.
