What impact, if any, will the coronavirus pandemic have on Iowa's world-famous bike ride across the state this year?

That question should be answered in a few days.

Organizers of the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa are planning to announce their decision on the status of this year's event sometime Monday. In a Facebook post, RAGBRAI officials said they've assessing the ability to hold the 48th annual event safely and are in the process of determining the best course of action for everyone in 2020.

RAGBRAI is scheduled to start July 19 in Le Mars and end July 25 in Clinton. Waterloo is supposed to be one of the overnight stops on the 420.3-mile route, along with Storm Lake, Fort Dodge, Iowa Falls, Anamosa and Maquoketa.
