Why Did This Popular Cedar Falls Restaurant Close?
This popular breakfast spot in Cedar Falls closed its doors forever.
Many of our favorite Cedar Valley restaurants have been growing through some tough times over the past year and a half. Some popular restaurants around the area have either been limited to shorter hours because of understaffing or have closed all together.
Unfortunately, this has been a more common occurrence as of late. Many restaurants are so short staffed that they have to close early thus making them miss out on making money.
Another restaurant in the Cedar Valley is saying goodbye for good. The University of Northern Iowa breakfast spot the Waffle Stop Grill closed its doors for good. There is no word as to when the restaurant closed, but the closure occurred recently.
The restaurant closed in early 2020 for some renovations, and reopened in March of 2020, right before the pandemic put the entire world on pause. Officials from the popular UNI eatery have not made a public statement as to why they have suddenly closed their doors.
While the eatery's Facebook page gives no word about the closing, if you do a quick Google search you'll see in bright red that the restaurant is "permanently closed."
The building that was home to the Waffle Stop Grill in Cedar Falls has been sold, and the sign is gone. Also, all of the furnishings, booths, and fixtures went to sale on Facebook Marketplace.
Some other places that have closed recently include the popular 'Here's What's Poppin' in Waterloo.
