Iowa is known for being a wrestling state, so it's not incredibly surprising that some good fighters/wrestlers have come from Iowa. It's still remarkable how many Central Community College athletes have gone on to fight at one of the highest levels you can fight.

In a 2021 article from IC Tritons, they mention another name making it into the UFC Octagon, Phil Hawes. Hawes was a former national champion wrestler for the Tritons and he went on to beat Nassourdine Imavov on a UFC main card.

Jon Jones is considered one of the greatest professional fighters of all time and was a two-time undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Joe Soto competed in the bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and has been a professional competitor since 2006.

Colby Covington is currently competing in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is a former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion. According to ESPN his current career record is 17-4.

On the football side of things, Tyji Armstrong, Amari Spievey, and Troy Stedman all have spent time in the NFL.
