Run, Walk, or Roll to Remember at Cedar Falls Hope & Honor on 9/11
I can't run. Not even if someone yells, "FREE WHISKEY!" But I can certainly walk, and I assume you can, too!
Cedar Falls is inviting the community to step up in remembrance and support at the Hope & Honor 9/11 5K.
What to Know About the Cedar Falls Hope & Honor 5K
The event will take place on Thursday, September 11, 2025, rain or shine, beginning at 8:15 a.m.

Parking will be available at the Falls Aquatic Center at 3025 South Main Street.
Before the race, participants will be escorted across the street to gather at the memorial marker, where Mayor Danny Laudick will deliver opening remarks.
The Cost and How to Register for the Hope & Honor 5K and the "Run in Honor"
Rather than charging a registration fee, attendees are asked to bring two non-perishable food items to donate to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
You can register for free here.
The event is also an opportunity to “Run in Honor.” Participants may choose to honor a loved one who served, either past or present, particularly the well-respected 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment.
Runners or walkers may receive a sticker displaying the name of their honoree and are invited to share their stories.
The City will share these dedications on social media to amplify their impact.
This meaningful event includes informational booths on-site at Paw Park featuring resources from veteran and healthcare organizations.
Hope & Honor 5K Isn't a Race
While it's not an actual race, as an appreciation to the first 100 finishers, CODE 4 Public Safety Emblems, LLC will present medals to celebrate their effort.
These include UNI Military and Veteran Student Services, UnityPoint Health Black Hawk-Grundy Mental Health Center, Veteran Affairs of Black Hawk County, Retrieving Freedom, Inc., and Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI).

Donations collected at the refreshment stand, both in-person and via an online link, will benefit Retrieving Freedom, Inc., a local non-profit that trains service dogs for veterans and children with autism.
Everyone is welcome! Individuals, families, groups, businesses, and spectators. Together we will remember, give back, and connect.
