
Cedar Falls Shares Simplified Look at City Finances with New 2025 Report
The City of Cedar Falls has released its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the 2025 fiscal year, giving residents an easy-to-understand overview of how city finances are managed and where tax dollars are going.
The PAFR is a simplified version of the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), a detailed document that spans nearly 200 pages and is required each year.
What Cedar Falls Spent Tax Dollars on in 2025
While the ACFR is designed for auditors and financial analysts, the PAFR breaks down that complex information into a clear, visually engaging guide meant specifically for the community.

The report highlights key areas, including capital projects, revenues, expenditures, net position, debt, and financial statistics, with the goal of improving transparency, accountability, and communication between the City and its residents.
This marks the second consecutive year Cedar Falls has produced a PAFR.
Cedar Falls Gains Recognition for its Strong Report
The City received national recognition for its 2024 report, earning the Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award from the Government Finance Officers Association, which cited the document’s clarity and reader appeal.

Cedar Falls continues to be recognized for its strong financial management, having earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the GFOA for 35 straight years.

The City has also maintained a AAA bond rating from Moody’s, the highest rating available, since 2020.
