A Waverly man was killed in a farming accident north of the city.

Authorities identified the victim as 63-year-old Dale Clewell. According to Bremer County sheriff's officials, Clewell was working on a planter when the jack supporting it apparently shifted, causing the planter to fall on top of him.

Clewell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened Thursday around 9 PM at 1808 Euclid Ave. (County Road V-14), about five miles north of Waverly. Details on the accident were released by sheriff's officials on Monday.

Waverly Fire and Ambulance and Plainfield First Responders assisted Bremer County sheriff's deputies at the scene.
