New Eatery Takes Over Waverly’s Old Dirty Dog Location

A restaurant is moving into the old location of a popular eatery in Waverly.

In early May, the news came out that the Dirty Dog American Bar & Grill would be closing its doors for good. This eatery initially opened up at 1016 W Bremer Avenue in Waverly in 2014.

The closure was relatively sudden.

Now, a restaurant with roots in the Cedar Valley is expanding with a location in this spot.

Grumpy's Bar and Event Center is a popular business in the town of Readlyn. The restaurant hosts various events throughout the year.

Now, they will be opening Grumpy's Roadhouse in the old Dirty Dog space.

A Little Bit About Grumpy's Roadhouse

According to a recent report from the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, the restaurant will serve up "bar food on steroids."

They'll serve up items like fried pickles, wraps, massive pork tenderloins, and bacon cheeseburgers.

Also, this will be the new spot for some open mic nights. From the looks of things, these will be held at Grumpy's on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

When Will Grumpy's Open?

While there's no exact opening date, the team behind this new restaurant claim that they plan to be open by Labor Day.
