A Waterloo woman was transported to the hospital after her car side-swiped a semi in Black Hawk County.

Sheriff's officials said 51-year-old Sharon Kaufman was traveling westbound on County Road C-66/Dunkerton Road north of Waterloo Monday morning when she pulled away from a stop sign and struck the side of a semi going south on U.S. Highway 63. According to authorities, Kaufman did not see the approaching semi due to a plastic bag covering the passenger side window of her car.

Kaufman was cited for failure to yield. Officials did not disclose the extent of her injuries.

Authorities identified the semi driver as 41-year-old Scott Torkelson of Thornton. He escaped injury.

Monday's accident happened just before 11 AM.
