Authorities are investigating two separate incidents that happened in Black Hawk County Wednesday afternoon, a Waterloo shooting and a personal injury accident near Brandon.

In each case, a man was taken to the hospital.

Waterloo police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of West 3rd and Randolph Streets around 2:30 PM. According to police, arriving officers learned that a man had been shot in the leg during an argument.

Officials said the altercation began in a parking lot and ended at a neighboring apartment complex.

Police didn't identify the man who was shot. Authorities indicated his injuries weren't life-threatening.

Accident Near Brandon

A Lone Tree man was injured in a crash on Interstate 380. Authorities identified the victim as Paul Blanchard, who suffered minor injuries.

Black Hawk County sheriff's officials said Blanchard was hurt when his motorcycle was rear-ended by a vehicle that fled the scene of the crash.

Blanchard was take to a Waterloo hospital for treatment.

The crash happened just before 3 PM near mile-marker 56 about eight miles northwest of Brandon.

Authorities are looking for the person who drove away after hitting the motorcycle. The accident remains under investigation.
