Waterloo police have identified the woman killed in a weekend shooting.

According to police, 27-year-old Jada Young-Mills of Waterloo died at a local hospital after being shot early Saturday morning. The incident happened at 723 Dawson St.

Another Waterloo woman is accused of the crime. Shortly after the shooting, authorities arrested 36-year-old Lasondra Johnson on a charge of first-degree murder and booked her into the Black Hawk County Jail.

The Saturday morning shooting happened shortly after midnight. According Waterloo police, Black Hawk County sheriff's deputies heard gunshots in the area of Edison St. and Grandview Ave.

When police officers arrived to investigate, they found Young-Mills suffering from a gunshot wound inside the Dawson Street home.

The shooting remains under investigation by Waterloo police.
