Waterloo Brewery Is Expanding to Iowa’s Capital City
A popular brewery in the Cedar Valley will be opening up a new location in Des Moines.
SingleSpeed Brewery has been a staple of the Cedar Valley for years. Now, there are plans to expand their tap room/brewery business to the capital of Iowa.
News came out last year that the Waterloo based brewery will be opening a new location in Des Moines' Market District neighborhood. It's going to be on the east bank of the Des Moines River.
The taproom will be located in a former tire shop at 303 Scott Avenue. This new building will have an outdoor patio that will be right against a neighboring bike trail.
SingleSpeed in Des Moines also will have a similar full food system and menu to its Waterloo location. According to reports, it will also have a five-barrel brewery system just for local, Des Moines beers.
Initial reports said that the Des Moines location would open up this spring. From the looks of the brand's social media posts, the new watering hole might just be open in the next few weeks.
The SingleSpeed team posted a video on Instagram with a caption that reads,
"Won't be long now, Des Moines."
We reached out to SingleSpeed Brewing for comment and to confirm the date of their Des Moines grand opening but have yet to hear back.
The brewery and adjoining tap room is located at 325 Commercial Street in Waterloo in the old Wonder Bread factory building is always a hotspot for locals, bikers, and fans of locally brewed beers.
Initially, Singlespeed set up shop in Cedar Falls with a 1700 SF facility, powered by a 3 BBL BrewHouse. In 2016, SingleSpeed moved their brewery to the Waterloo location, and now the taphouse located at 128 Main Street also serves as their Research and Development center.
