A device that prompted a visit from the Waterloo Bomb Squad early this (Monday) morning, was apparently a CO2 cartridge with a fuse.

The incident began late Sunday night; a man who was walking home, approached three men who had a suspicious item. The man, Robert Behrenburg, took the device home, to 211 Monroe Street, then decided to call police at about 1:00 AM today.

Waterloo authorities then summoned the bomb squad, which disarmed the device.

According to sources, the item was a CO2 cartridge with a fuse.

No one was injured, and no arrests have been made, although the incident remains under investigation.
