Two Randalia residents face a list of charges for having drugs and other illegal substances in their home, occupied by several minor children.


At about 8:30pm Friday (Aug. 28), the Fayette County Sheriff received a call requesting a welfare check on a number of children at a home at 209 North 2nd Street in Randalia.

When deputies arrived, a man who was exiting the home was stopped and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

A search warrant was then executed, in which multiple drug paraphernalia, illegal substances, pills and illegal edibles were seized.

33 year old Valerie Knospe and 40 year old William Troxel, both of Randalia, were arrested and charged with Possession with intent to Deliver, 5 Counts of Child Endangerment, Gathering Where Marijuana is used, Possession of marijuana, Possession of Cannabidiol, Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Troxel was additionally charged with Possession of Controlled substance 3rd Offense.

If convicted, Troxel and Knospe could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, all of the children were found to be ok.

The sheriff was assisted at the scene by the Department of Human Services and Iowa State Patrol.
