Trapped Driver Rescued from Wrecked Pickup
A Northeast Iowa motorist had to be extricated from his vehicle Sunday evening, when it went into a ditch and rolled onto it's side.
The accident was reported to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office at about 6pm Sunday (Dec. 27). The pickup was found on it's side in a ditch near "R" Avenue and 190th Street, south of Hawkeye, with the driver still trapped inside.
58 year old William Loomis of Hawkeye had to be extricated from the pickup. He was taken to the West Union hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
The Fayette County Sheriff also reports more accidents involving deer. On Saturday (Dec. 26) at about 10:30pm, a car driven by 46 year old Michael Shurtleff of Waucoma was southbound on "W" Avenue about 3 miles south of Waucoma, when it struck a deer. No one was injured, but there was $1,500 damage to the 2017 Ford Fusion.
And on December 22nd at about 10:45pm, officers were called to a traffic accident involving a deer near Maynard. A car driven by a 16 year old motorist hit a deer. No one was hurt, but there was $2,500 in damages.
