Tiffany’s Spoiler Movie Review: Robocop
Robocop, where a man is combined with robotics to create a super cop to fight evil and yet, still have a human conscience. Sounds like an intriguing idea, right? I have to say for a movie created in the 80’s it is still a compelling idea to this day and really stands the times. I mean the special effects and gore are pretty cheesy but the plot, acting, and idea are very effective.
When I first started watching this, I was worried that it was going to be another movie where humans come up with a great idea for a robot and then the robots try to take over the human and race and the cops have to come together to save the day. I mean that is usually how these movies go, but not this time around! The fact that they built a full-on robot to be a cop, which really just acts like a new child trying to understand everything going on, and then morph officer Murphy once he has died (which by the way, I will never sign my body over to do that when I am dead) into a robot and a cop is pretty genius. It keeps the humanity and morals of a cop while still giving the whole back story support. Also, the twist in the end, where there is a big, bad evil trying to take over a company and Robocop gets his revenge in the end was a nice touch.
All in all, it was a well-crafted movie and I would watch it again, although I could do without the cheap gore. I would give this movie 3 out of 5 popcorn kernels.
