Tiffany’s Spoiler Movie Review: The Matrix
Johnny Marks gave me the 1999 "classic," The Matrix starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne. Before I get into why I put the word classic in quotations, let me give a little background to the story.
The Matrix is about a guy whom is a computer programmer by day and hacker by night. Basically, reality comes to be when another known hacker leads this guy, Neo, to what is really happening where the world is actually a wasteland and people's minds think all is fine because they are stuck in this alternate reality called the matrix. Now, Neo must return to this alternate reality to stop the agents trying to destroy humanity.
Maybe it's just because I am not a fan of Sci-Fi but I don't understand how a story line like this becomes a "classic"? It is hard to follow when trying to keep realities straight and even harder to believe. I think that in order for a story line to have strong holding, there has to be some sense of believability in order to connect. I don't think there is much here for that. For me, I got bored because there was too much to try to follow and not enough reality.
I will say that the special effects were pretty impressive, even for today. The acting wasn't bad either, just the story line had some issues. Check back later this week for the full review and see how many popcorn kernels I award it.
