Teen Driver Crashes into Police Chief’s Squad Car
A teenage driver from West Union faces charges, after his car collided with the city Police Chief's squad car.
Shortly after 7:30am this morning (Monday, Jan. 6), the Fayette County Sheriff was called out to investigate a traffic accident on East Elm Steet in West Union.
A car driven by 19 year old Cody Durnan pulled out from an alley, right in front of a West Union Police Dodge Charger, driven by Chief Paul Becthold.
The squad car was not able to stop in time, and the two collided. No one was injured.
An investigation determined that Durnan had frosted windows on his 2003 Pontiac Grand AM, which obscured his vision.
Durnan is being charged with Failure to Yield Upon Entering a Through Roadway.
There was $1,500 damage to his car, and $1,000 damage to the police vehicle.
