Sumner Man Dead in 2 Vehicle Accident

A Sumner man has died in a two-vehicle crash in rural Chickasaw County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, it happened at about 7:45am Tuesday (Aug. 4), at the uncontrolled intersection of 300th Street and Vanderbilt Avenue, north of Sumner.

A northbound truck failed to yield the right of way, and collided with a westbound van driven by 32 year old Sean Slick of Sumner. Slick was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in one of the vehicles, 19 year old Justin Pfister of Sumner, was taken to the Sumner Hospital by ambulance; a condition report was not available.
2 minor passengers in the van were restrained, however the drivers were not buckled up.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office, Chickasaw County EMS, Fredericksburg EMS, Sumner EMS, and Chickasaw County Rescue.
