Neither goaltender would budge in the opening period as Eric Schierhorn (8 saves) of Muskegon and Stefanos Lekkas (7 saves) of Sioux Falls combined to stop all 15 shots that came their way.

The Stampede came alive in the second period. Mikey Eyssimont made a cross-ice pass to set up defenseman Joey Raats right on the doorstep and he buried the puck to make it a 1-0 game just over a minute into the first period. It was the first goal of the playoffs for Raats. Right after the ensuing faceoff, Kieffer Bellows took the puck and ripped a shot over the shoulder of Schierhorn to make it a 2-0 game for the Stampede.

Sioux Falls would take advantage of power play opportunities as Troy Loggins jammed in a loose puck for his ninth goal of the playoffs, making it 3-0, before Collin Peters capitalized on a power play less than three minutes later to push the score to 4-0. That goal would end the night for Schierhorn as Muskegon inserted Michael Latorella in net to finish the game.

Later in the period, Lawton Courtnall would net the fifth goal of the frame and the night for the Stampede. It was his first goal of the playoffs, and at that point, made it eight different Stampede players who had scored a goal in the series.

Muskegon would get on the scoreboard with less than seven minutes to play as they pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker and Matheson Iacopelli ripped a shot that got past Lekkas. It was the fifth goal of the playoffs for Iacopelli. Just seconds later, Bellows would put one in the next empty for his second of the night to close out the scoring.

Lekkas made 29 saves to earn his eighth win of the playoffs. Schierhorn had 16 saves while Latorella stopped 14 of 15 shots he faced in relief for the Lumberjacks.

The series now shifts to Sioux Falls for Game Three on Friday, May 15th as the Stampede look to close out the series and Muskegon seeks to extend the series to a fourth game on Sunday.
