It's not everyday that you come across a possible proposal...

I recently made a trip to California for a week long vacation. I've never been out that far west before, so I was lucky to have friends who knew the area and could take me around.

One of the most exciting days included an afternoon trip to the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Coincidentally just a few hours after I dropped by; writer, actress, and producer Mindy Kaling actually had her daughter's birthday party at the observatory.

However, I actually came across something a bit more exciting than a celebrity sighting...a proposal.

My friend and I stepped outside to check out the exterior of this science facility when we saw several women laying out a white sheet with rose petals on it.

Here is a photo of the scene I saw when I first went outside.

The woman in white is NOT the future bride, but she was standing in the spot for a sort of photo test the family was doing.

I got so excited when I saw one of the ladies there pull out a balloon shaped like an engagement ring. Quickly, my friend and I turned to each other with the realization of what was about to happen.

We quickly decided that we were going to wait it out to see the couple get engaged.

Little did we know that we would be waiting it out for more than an hour.

After about 45 minutes went by, my friend who had wanted to take me to the observatory suggested that we go check out the other exhibits and sights while we waited.

While I might have physically moved from where I was, I still was hyper-fixated on the proposal. So, I started loudly complaining about how long we were waiting just to watch someone get down on one knee and pop the question. This went on for the majority of the time we spent putzing around the building.

My friend laughed and shook her head. She then reminded me that I better try and be quiet and not talk too much about what was going on outside. You never know who could be listening...

After that conversation we headed outside and heard some commotion. The couple was there! Or at least they were about to be!

Everyone who had gathered around started to get quiet and we waited just a few more minutes. A man was firmly gripping a woman's hand and taking her to the spot that was setup for them.

As soon as he got down on one knee the entire crowd started to cheer for them! Shaking, she said yes!

With all of this hubbub going on, the young man slipped the engagement ring on his future wife's finger...and it didn't fit quite right!

You can watch the full video of the sweet moment down below! I captured the clip on a different level, so it's tough to hear what the now engaged couple are saying to each other.
