Person Dead on Train Tracks near Indy

A train has struck and killed a pedestrian near Independence.
The accident happened shortly after 9pm Thursday, near 10th street NE, just outside the Independence city limits, near the Wapsipinicon river.
A body was found on the tracks. A preliminary investigation indicates a Canadian National Railway train struck a person who was walking on the tracks; that person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's name will not be released until relatives can be notified.
The accident remains under investigation, by the Buchanan County Sheriff's office.
