A Parkersburg woman has died in a two-vehicle accident in Butler County.


According to the Iowa State Patrol, it happened at about 9:30am Thursday (Aug. 19) at the intersection of 300th Street and Ridge Avenue, northeast of Parkersburg.

A semi driven by 20 year old Dillon Nissen of Reinbeck, had slowed to make a left turn. The driver of the car following him, 82 year old Mary Vry of Parkersburg, apparently did not notice the truck had slowed down, and slammed into the rear of the semi.

Vry's car then rolled, coming to rest in the ditch. She was ejected, and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Butler County Sherifff, Iowa DOT, and Parkersburg emergency agencies.

Two teenagers from Waterloo sustained only minor injuries in a two vehicle accident on Highway 20 near Cedar Falls.

The incident happened Tuesday (Aug. 17) at about 6:45pm, west of Cedar Falls, near Grundy Road.

An SUV driven by 17 year old Ayzha Coffer of Waterloo, as well as a car driven by 40 year old Listy Wickham of Holland, Iowa, were both westbound on Highway 20, traveling side by side, when Coffer's vehicle changed lanes, striking the car.

The SUV went into the median and rolled onto the driver's side. The car swerved, but was able to be stopped on the shoulder of the road.
Coffer is being cited for an improper lane change.

Coffer and a passenger, 17 year old Gabrielle Steinhoff of Waterloo, were treated for minor injuries at the scene of the accident.
