During a recent tobacco compliance check with local businesses, Oelwein Police have cited a Dubuque man.

The checks were conducted on June 3rd at several local establishments. Oelwein Police issued only one citation, to Mohameed Ateeqe of Dubuque, for Providing Tobacco to Minors. The compliance checks are part of the Iowa I-Pledge Tobacco Enforcement and Training Program.
The program's main goal is to increase the voluntary compliance with Iowa's tobacco, alternative nicotine vapor product laws, through education and enforcement.

In other Oelwein Police releases, officers were called to a traffic accident last Thursday at about 9:30am, in the 500 block of 1st Street SE. A 2007 gray Mack truck driven by Tyler Trumblee collided with a car owned by Able Garcia. No injuries were reported.
And Oelwein Police responded to a report of a theft, in the 400 block of 3rd Avenue SE. No other information was released, and the incident is still under investigation.
