A Northeast Iowa motorist is being charged with causing a New Year's Day accident in Southwest Wisconsin.


The incident happened at about 6am January 1st, in Harrison Township, near Platteville, Wisconsin. 36 year old Kelli Cummings of Dubuque was southbound on Stanton Road, when her car did not negotiate a curve. The car left the road and crashed into a utility pole.

Cummings was not hurt. She then left the scene of the accident, and did not report it to local authorities.

Cummings is being charged with Failure to Maintain Control of her Vehicle, Failure to Notify Law Enforcement, and Hit and Run to Property Adjacent to a Highway, which was the power pole, owned by Scenic Rivers Energy Cooperative.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office covered the accident.
