Since its initial seamless transition to Sunoco Green E-15 in 2011 - NASCAR has now reached 7-million miles on American made ethanol racing fuel.

In 2010, NASCAR announces it will race with Sunoco Green E15 fuel in its three national touring series in 2011. Sunoco Green E15 is a 15 percent ethanol blend using American-made ethanol from corn grown by American farmers.

NASCAR Green Innovation and Stem Platforms Vice President Dr. Michael Lynch says NASCAR has shown under the most demanding competition that E-15 is safe, reliable and works.

The American Ethanol sponsored "Green Flag Restart Award" goes to the eligible driver that records the fastest average speed on restarts and finishes the race on the lead lap. A per-race $5,000 award is given to the winning driver, and a year-end $100,000 is given to the driver who wins the most awards during the season.

Lynch says NASCAR fans are 80-percent more likely than non-fans to support the use of ethanol blends in their own car on the street because they understand NASCAR and its diligent race teams did their homework from the start with thousands of miles and hours of testing.

Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis says NASCAR validates what a great performance fuel E-15 is - as teams and owners have noticed increased horsepower, higher performance and reduced emissions without a single issue.

Speaking of issues, the Pit Crew is often overlooked on the victory of a win in NASCAR.  Did you know the average Pit Stop is just over 14 seconds?  That's changing 4 tires, filling the gas tank and all the other ins and outs of racing.  I'm not sure that last time I was approved for a purchase of fuel and pumping the gas in under 14 seconds, let alone done and ready to go in that time.

Here, enjoy this video of Pit Crew team training.  **Note, the video was selected for it's content, not for who the driver is or isn't. **  Just enjoy the talent.
