You can learn a lot on social media. It's not ALL just doom scrolling and bad news that gives you news fatigue. Oh no-no. It's also finding out that, say, your Governor moved. Now, first off that answer is no. No it's not against any rules (she didn't leave the state), and no, she's not legally obligated to tell us. Still, it's fun to play detective, right?

Gov. Reynolds has moved to Madison County

The governor posted a photo of herself on Twitter yesterday showing that she'd voted at a local polling station in Madison County. What surprised many about the tweet was, Reynolds, her husband, and her family moved to Osceola in the 1990s. They'd been Osceola residents ever since. Well, until now. Radio Iowa was able to confirm that the governor purchased a new home in St. Charles, which is her hometown.

Gov. Reynolds' father worked at the John Deere factory in Ankeny, but also maintained a farm in the St. Charles area. According to the Radio Iowa report, Madison County records show the governor and her husband purchased a 20-acre property from her parents this past spring, and there is a house on the property that they likely moved into. Madison County is quite famous, it is where film legend John Wayne was born, and for its covered bridges. These were featured in The Bridges of Madison County novel and film.

The acting Governor of Iowa also has residents at Terrace Hill in Des Moines, which has been used by all Iowa governors since 1976. Governor Reynolds currently uses this home when she's in Des Moines.

Hilarious Iowa DOT Signs

Anyone else share a sense of humor with a state's Department of Transportation? Just me? Well, every Monday the Iowa Department of Transportation puts up a sometimes hilarious, sometimes straightforward message on their road signs across the state. This is called "message Monday" and Iowa DOT tries to entertain and educate drivers through these signs. Here are just a few of our favorites.
