Iowa Oktoberfest Kicks Off In Waterloo
It's fall here in the Cedar Valley, and you know what that means!
It's time for beer! And Oktoberfest...
Iowa Oktoberfest kicks off this Friday in Waterloo. The festivities will start at 5 PM Friday evening and are expected to go on to Saturday night.
The event is free to attend for all members of the public. It will be held in the area surrounding Anton's Bier Garden in Downtown Waterloo at 518 Sycamore Street.
Along with some good beer from local brewers, there will be live music all weekend long.
Here are the list of performers for Friday:
Kris & the Riverbend Dutchmen 6-7:45 PM
Malek's Fisherman Band 8:15-11 PM
There will also be a "Best Beard Contest" at 8 PM on Friday evening.
Saturday will see a more fluffy crowd...and I'm not talking about those beards in the Friday night contest. At 11 AM there will be a Barktoberfest Doggie Parade, so this might be a great place to bring your furry friends.
Most of Saturday's events will be more pet and family friendly with the previously mentioned pet parade along with pumpkins and even painting!
Saturday night will see more live music come to Waterloo with Barefoot Becky & the Ivanhoe Dutchmen from 6-10 PM.
For more information about the event make sure to check out Iowa Oktoberfest's website or Facebook page.
If you're interested in helping out with this German celebration as a volunteer, they're looking for some extra hands. So make sure to check out the official Iowa Oktoberfest website for information on how to get involved.
