Of course having a baby and raising a baby are both incredibly challenging.

Also, let's be honest they can be incredibly expensive.

Overall, Iowa's birthrate has gone down significantly over the past few years. In a recent report from Axios, the Hawkeye State's birthrate dropped more than 16% between 2007 and 2022.

Nationwide, the birthrate declined 23%.

Iowa's Most Popular Baby Names of 2023

Based off of Google Trends data, a site called Betway was able to determine the most popular baby names in 2023. Of course they figured out the trends for all of North America, but they also took a closer look at each state's preferences.

Overall though, the most popular girl baby name nationally is Scarlett. 

It was the top choice in thirty three states!

The top boy name in 2023 was Jack.

Kind of basic, but okay...

According to this study, it was the most popular boy name in fourteen states!
