Gladbrook Motorcyclist Killed In Evening Accident

A Gladbrook man was killed in a Marshall County accident Monday evening (April 17, 2017).

Authorities said Gary Johnson, 63, died when the motorcycle he was operating collided with a semi that was pulling a loaded livestock trailer. According to an Iowa State Patrol accident report, the southbound semi entered the path of Johnson's northbound motorcycle while attempting a left turn to make a delivery.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Iowa Highway 14 and Marion St. in the city of Marshalltown. The crash report shows both vehicles were on Iowa 14 when the mishap occurred.

The Iowa State Patrol said Johnson was wearing a helmet, but died at the scene. The semi driver -- identified as Reid Gerhardt, 24, of Fairmont, Minn. -- was not injured.
