Greene was making his way in his wheelchair along West Fourth Street near the Allen Street intersection when the incident took place. A 24-year-old driving a Ford Edge struck him as he was crossing the street on November 8th.

Greene was flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following the incident, as reported by the Waterloo Courier. The 31-year-old man suffered from brain swelling after the ordeal.

Several different organizations have publicly commented about his untimely death.

According to police reports, the driver of the vehicle that struck Greene, claims that at the time of the incident (3:30 PM approximately) the setting sun was in her eyes. This led to her not seeing Greene until the very last moment; when it was too late.

Two days later, on November 10th, Greene passed due to the injuries from the accident.

Tyler had cerebral palsy and used his own experience to advocate for other people within the disability community. He started his lifelong commitment to activism when he was only 8-years-old, as reported by KWWL.

"Despite being told what he would NOT be able to do, Tyler spent a lifetime of Doing."  -Tyler Greene's Obituary

Greene's family has made funeral arrangements for the young man. A memorial service will be held in the Kersenbrock Auditorium of West Waterloo High School on Saturday, November 20th. This service will start at 10:30 AM. The family encourages people to wear masks if they will be attending.
