Your Ultimate Guide to Record Store Day 2025 in Iowa

A few years ago, I made a trip out to Los Angeles to visit some friends. While they were at work, I explored the city by myself.

I had just started collecting vinyl records so I had to find a record store in Hollywood and take a look around. My friend Kaci pointed me in the direction of Amoeba Music, one of the largest record stores in the country.

I couldn't believe just how massive this place was! Whatever you were itching to find on vinyl, cd, or cassette they definitely had it. As I was looking around, I came across an Elvis Presley record with some unreleased demo tapes.

On the side of the vinyl was a little sticker that said 'Record Store Day Exclusive.'

What Is Record Store Day?

I was curious about what exactly this was, so after buying it I did some research.

Record Store Day is a celebration of the 1,400 independently-owned record stores in the country. On a select day in April (and also now on Black Friday) stores release ultra exclusive CDs, records, and posters.

It was first conceived in 2007, according to the official RSD website.

On Saturday, April 12th 2025 record collectors from all across the country will line up to get their hands on these limited edition releases. There are more than 300 titles that are up for grabs this year.

Be warned! Not every store will have all of the releases!

Some of the big gets for fans include a 7″ vinyl from Taylor Swift and Post Malone, Rage Against the Machine: ‘Live on Tour 1993,’ ‘Wicked’: ‘The Soundtrack’ and quite a few more!
