Fort Dodge School District Cancels School… (Not Due to COVID)
It's 2020 and, with relatively nice weather, Fort Dodge canceled class today, Thursday. So... gotta be due to COVID-19, right? Nope. Again, it's 2020 so if a shark was loose in the school it wouldn't be a shock. Still, this is a different reason to call off class...
The Des Moines Register reports the district scrapped classes due to cyber attack. Yeah. Sounds like a James Bond Jr. plot... The school district confirmed on its Facebook late Wednesday that the attack knocked out the schools phone and internet servers. As a result, classes were canceled for what the post says were 'the safety of our students and staff.' Police are working with school officials to figure out exactly who is behind the attack.
The attack also impacted the school district's automated calling system which is why all updates were posted on social media. Due to the cyber attack, their could not be an online lesson or virtual learning.
