It's hard to imagine going back to school, isn't it? As another school year is about to end, most kids will say the same thing in about two months.

For parents, ensuring their children get the best education is important, and we rely heavily on the public schools in our neighborhoods to provide that.

Are the public schools in your neighborhood strong? Chances are they are. But, according to a new study from Niche, the best public schools in Iowa are scattered around the state.

Iowa's Best Public Schools: The Metrics

The study used a few basic metrics to determine, and as I've said in the past, with studies like this, it's hard to justify just using numbers. But if you're curious what the crunched numbers look like, we'll examine them below.

The metrics Niche used are:

  • Academic Performance: Iowa state test scores, graduation rates, and college readiness.

  • Teacher Quality: Qualifications, student-to-teacher ratios, and teacher absenteeism.

  • Student and Parent Reviews: Feedback on school culture, safety, and resources.

  • Additional Metrics: SAT/ACT scores, AP enrollment, and diversity.

With those metrics in mind, the top public schools in Iowa list was built.
