This weekend there will be an opportunity for people in need of some extra resources to get a helping hand. Local community members in Waterloo are coming together for this event. On Saturday February, 27th from noon to 2PM, members and volunteers will hold a food giveaway in Waterloo.

It will be held at the Jubilee UMC Freedom Center and officials from the Northeast Iowa Food Bank that due to COVID there might be at least a quarter more households facing food insecurity in Iowa, thus making the need for more donations and food even more imperative this year.

Any community member in need is welcome and encouraged to drop by the event and pick up a box of food during the allotted time. If you are looking to go, make sure to arrive early since they are operating under a first come, first serve basis.

The proper social distancing procedures will be followed, and all people in attendance will be directed to a pick up lane. Masks will be required.

This is a venture with several local fast food chains and the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
