Did Kevin Costner Just Forget To Throw Out the First Pitch?

All eyes were on Dyersville Thursday evening as two of the MLB's biggest teams played the very first major league game in state history. Eyes were also on the actors from the beloved movie that was being honored that evening.

Kevin Costner, who played Ray Kinsella in 'Field of Dreams' was in attendance at the game that was close to the actual movie site of the 1989 film. Costner's appearance was highly anticipated by baseball fans and diehard lovers of the movie. Rumors were swirling that the actor might throw out the first pitch. Some even speculated that he might throw it to his movie father, Dwier Brown.

The opening of the game included a wonderful homage to the movie. Costner walks out of the corn onto the field and is followed closely behind by the players participating in the game.

After this beautiful opening, the actor stepped up to give a touching speech about the meaning of this movie.

"On the other side of that corn we filmed a movie that stood the test of time. Tonight, thanks to that enduring impact that that little movie had, it's allowed us to come here again," the actor said.

The sentiment was beautiful, truly. After wishing the players good luck he kind of just...walked off the field. He had a ball in his hand and he was right at the pitcher's mound, so why didn't he throw the first pitch. There was no ceremonial first pitch that I could discern after watching the broadcast.

So, did he just forget?

While many fans were ecstatic to see the movie star, some were wondering why he didn't throw the first pitch.

Costner has the same look on my face when I'm confidently walking in one direction, but realize that I actually have to go in the other direction. Either way, even if he was supposed to throw the first pitch and he forgot it was still a wonderful game.
