A five-game winning streak ended for the Waterloo Bucks Wednesday night (June 7, 2017). The Mankato MoonDogs bunched together multiple runs in the third and eighth innings to defeat the locals 5-1 at Riverfront Stadium.

The MoodDogs (5-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Zac Wiley lined a shot back to the mound. The ball hit Waterloo starting pitcher Nathan Walker (1-1) and richocheted into leftfield, plating both runs.

The Bucks cut the deficit in half in the fifth inning. Grant Hawkins, running in place of Kyle Crowl, crossed the plate on Keaton Presley's infield grounder to second base. Crowl reached base with a lead-off single.

The score remained 2-1 until the top of the eighth inning, when the MoonDogs plated their final three runs. With two out and the bases loaded, Kenton Crews connected for a two-run single to centerfield. Alvaro Rubalcaba then followed with run-scoring blooper that fell in the grass just behind second base.

The loss dropped Waterloo into second-place in the Northwoods League North Division standings.

UP NEXT: The Bucks conclude their four-game homestand on Thursday (June 8) at 6:35 p.m., when Waterloo wraps up its two-game series against Mankato at Riverfront Stadium.
