
Waterloo Mayoral Race Heads to December Runoff
Yesterday, Tuesday, November 4, was Election Day in the U.S.
While not a major election for national politics, many smaller races dotted the country, including here in Eastern Iowa.
Despite the election ending in the evening, Waterloo residents will have to go back to the polls in December.

In order to be declared the winner, one candidate is required to secure at least 50% of the vote.
The Mayoral Race Was Extremely Close to Being Called for Mayor Hart
KCRG reports the mayoral race in Waterloo, Iowa, is headed to a run-off in December. Quentin Hart, the incumbent, secured 49.70% of the vote.

That's just shy of the majority needed to win outright.
Just How Close Was the Mayoral Election In Waterloo
Dave Boesen came in second with 40.79%, while Matthew C. Gardner earned 8.60% and Gary Hall 0.82%.

A total of 11,526 ballots were cast, with the run-off set for December 2.
In a far less dramatic race, Cedar Rapids reelected its incumbent mayor, Tiffany O’Donnell, to a second term.
In Cedar Falls, Mayor Danny Laudick was also reelected, though he ran unopposed.
