Crash in Clayton County Kills One Person

Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim of a one-vehicle fatality accident in Clayton County.

The Clayton County Sheriff's Office was called out at about 7pm Saturday (Jan. 16) to a one-vehicle accident on Great River Road near Errthum Road near North Buena Vista.

Deputies determined that a westbound pickup failed to negotiate a curve, entered the ditch, and crashed head-on into a rock bluff.

The driver and only occupant of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The person's name is currently being withheld until relatives can be notified.

The Clayton County Sheriff was assisted at the scene by Guttenberg Police, Iowa State Patrol, and Holy Cross Fire and EMS.
