Closed Cedar Rapids Bar Will Reopen for One Night This Weekend

The 8th annual Market After Dark is set to take place on Saturday night, which will bring thousands of people to the area for food, drinks, live music, and lots of fun!

Because of the popularity of the Market After Dark, a closed Cedar Rapids bar will be reopening for the evening. The Tycoon, located at 427 2nd Ave SE above Fat Wally's, has announced that they will welcome customers beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 26th. The massive bar only opens for special occasions, the last time being the weekend of St. Patrick's Day.

The Downtown Cedar Rapids Market After Dark will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and run until 11 p.m., but downtown bars will keep the party going until close. The event will feature over 120 vendors, lots of live entertainment, dance parties, lighted attractions, food, and plenty of drinks. The market is an open-container environment, meaning that people 21 and older can enjoy adult beverages within the confines of the market. Various beer and wine tents will be set-up throughout the area, but several participating bars will also serve drinks that can be taken out into the street. Both cash and card will be accepted. The open container policy will end at 10:30 p.m. No outside drinks will be permitted.
