Child Killed In Buchanan County Crash

Buchanan County authorities are investigating a single-vehicle accident that left one child dead and another hurt over the weekend north of Jesup.

According to sheriff’s officials, 9-year-old Ace Reaves was killed in the crash and 6-year-old Ryker Reaves suffered unspecified injuries. Ryker Reaves was air-lifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for treatment.

The crash happened Sunday around 12:05 AM on County Road V-62 (Baxter Ave.) near the intersection with County Road C-66 (150th St.).

Sheriff’s officials said a preliminary investigation shows 35-year-old Robyn Reaves, of Oelwein, lost control of the vehicle she was driving. The car entered a ditch and struck a culvert.

Robyn Reaves also suffered unspecified injuries in the accident, authorities said. She was transported to a Waterloo hospital for treatment.
