Cedar Valley United Way 2022 Golf Classic Tournament [PHOTOS]

I was lucky enough to be able to play in the 2022 Cedar Valley United way Golf classic tournament this year and this was an absolute blast. My co-workers and I showed up to the tournament not expecting to have great scores but to have a lot of fun and we did exactly that.

I've been playing golf pretty much my entire life, one of the players on our team has played a decent amount but wouldn't consider himself a "golfer" and 2 players on our team had never played a round of golf ever. Watching them try golf for the first time was fun to watch and every time they made a decent connection with the ball I would have a proud coaching moment. While getting frustrated at certain times, I believe they both still had fun and enjoyed trying something new.

This year's tournament was held at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo as the Cedar Valley United Way partnered up with Scheels, and they picked a perfect day for the tournament. The weather was fantastic, the course was in excellent condition and I can only hope to be able to participate next year.

One of the most exciting things to happen was our team was able to Eagle the hardest hole on the course. Hole 3 is a 500-yard pard 5 with a bit of a dogleg to the right. My teammate hit a perfect drive along the left side and I decided I would try to cut the right corner and just swing as hard as I could from the t-box.

Well, I absolutely smashed the ball and ended up cutting the corner, in the middle of the fairway. From there we had about a 200-yard shot to the green, so I took out my 6 iron and drilled my second shot on the green. We had about a 50-foot putt for eagle where my team drilled the putt, giving us an eagle on the number 1 handicapped hole on the course. To say we were jacked up would be a bit of an understatement.

The only thing I regret is not putting on enough sunscreen. My calves were pretty burnt by the end of the round and in the last picture, you can see the insane tan line I had from my legs to the start of my socks, it's pretty crazy how straight the line is.
