Cedar Falls Hosted Loretta Lynn’s VERY Last Iowa Show
Country music lost a legend on Tuesday. On October 4th, 2022 Loretta Lynn passed away at the age of 90.
On the morning of her death, her family quickly released a short statement,
"Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home in her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills."
This four time Grammy winner lived a long life full of extreme personal and professional highs. She is recognized as the most awarded female country music artist of all time, as we previously reported. Lynn was a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The country musician is most widely known for her song 'Coal Miner's Daughter.'
Lynn spent decades out on the road and performed multiple times in Iowa. As reported by the Des Moines Register, she made her Hawkeye State debut in 1962 at the KRNT Theater in Des Moines with other headliners from the Grand Ole Opry.
The music icon retired from nearly six decades of touring in 2017 after suffering from a stroke. A year later she broke her hip. However, this was before she performed her very last show in Iowa.
On June 25th, 2016 the singer took to the stage at a popular Cedar Falls venue. The Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center played host to the matriarch of country music.
